Hands down, San Francisco is one of the most beautiful- and grooviest- cities in the world. Although a good portion of the city's population favours comfort/cosy clothes such as Patagonia fleeces and Birkenstocks to ward off the chilly fog, the city's fashionistas put their own stamp on design. One of the newest places to shop in the city is Anica, which opened last month in Russian Hill. The shop sells a mixture of vintage pieces and contemporary designs from Jovovich Hawk, Leyendecker, Kate and Kass, and United Bamboo. If you can't make it to the store, you can also shop on-line for clothing and accessories. We particularly liked the big, bold gold jewellery from Kevia, such as his turquoise and gold hammered bangles. Anica,  2418 Polk Street, San Francisco, Phone:  (415) 447-2878.
