Fans of Scotland, whisky and funky
hotels should head north to the Isle of Jura,
which is home to a distillery as well as the recently opened Jura
Lodge. The island is home to the eponymous distillery, and also
hosts a regatta, and the upcoming Crinan Classic Boat Festival.

need a break), the Lodge can also arrange shooting, hunting,
fishing, and good ole lobster eating. And listen up, fellow
scribes; Jura also hosts a Writer's Retreat (the island is where
George Orwell wrote "1984"). The first writer in residence was
Will Self. Who knows? The next one...
