One of the
hottest places to eat in
Dallas right
now is Fearing's, located inside the new Ritz-Carlton. The restaurant is helmed by
celebrity chef Dean Fearing, who made his name at the swanky
Mansion at Turtle Creek. His new restaurant has already been
named “Best New Restaurant of the Year” by Esquire
magazine, and the décor is sleek and contemporary. There are five
dining rooms and two bars, plus the open-plan Dean's Kitchen. The
menu is Southern with a twist; expect dishes like

It's a fact of life that no
woman can own enough shoes- and if you're feeling blue or just
need to perk up an old outfit, there's nothing better than a new
pair of heels to do the trick.  In Chicago, local
fashionistas are raving about the new boutique Perchance, which
opened last month in Lake View. Perchance has an elegant boudoir
look and stocks shoes by Stuart Weitzman, Cole Haan and Donald J.
Pliner as well as up and coming designers like Anyi Lu. The shop
is the brainchild of recent Kellogg MBA grad Mary Liz Lehman,
whose inspiration for the store's name came from the Shakespeare's Hamlet (“To sleep, to
sleep, perchance to dream”). In addition to the sexy shoe
selection, Perchance also sells a collection of women's clothing

When we were
in
South
Beach in October, we noticed that Danny DeVito
was staying at our hotel, The Setai. (However, the DeVito sighting pales in
comparison to our all-time best cele
b sighting- Giselle Bundchen at the Mandarin Oriental in New
York ..Well, it was my husband's favourite sighting). One reason

It's happened to
all of us. After spending a few days in your fancy hotel room,
you like the bed, lamp, photographs, toothbrush holder etc etc so
much that you'd love to buy it for yourself. Hotels like
Starwood, Kimpton, Kor and W all offer guest room items for sale
and if you're looking for some hotel-inspired Christmas gifts,
check out the new Kimptonstyle.com website. The site has recently
undergone a makeover and added plenty of new items-

many of which
donate all proceeds directly to its charitable partner, Dress for
Success, a nationwide organization dedicated to offering

I wouldn't say I have Howard
Hughes levels of germ paranoia, but like most people I hate
touching things like bathroom doors and the handrails on the
subway. And if you're the kind of person who wouldn't dare leave
the house without your Purell, here's a package for you. The
Hotel
Providence
(yes that's in Rhode Island which all the cool New
Englanders say is the next hot spot) is offering The Germaphobe's
Dream Package to help keep the flu at bay. This package includes
an overnight stay in a king size room along with a Germ
Eliminating Wand by Hammacher Schlemmer, which usess UV-C light to
eliminate 99% of bacteria and viruses. The idea is that guests

We always get a kick out of spa
treatments which have gone native, whether that's using ground
papaya in
Mexico or coconut milk in the Caribbean. But here's an original one-

We were just
browsing the bestseller list at the always fab Foyles and
couldn't help notice this book- the new Shopping, Seduction and Mr Selfridge by Lindy
Woodhead. Her book is a bio of the late, great Gordon Selfridge,
the founder of the eponymous department store on
Oxford Street. He's been described as the P.T. Barnum of the retail

In many ways I found shopping in Chiang Mai
to be far more enjoyable than
Bangkok. The city's small scale
and rich history of craftsmanship- minus the choking pollution
and crowds- all chalk up to one stellar shopping experience.
Chiang Mai may not have the glossy mega malls with aquariums and
Ferrari showrooms that you'll find in
Bangkok, but what it does have
is plenty of independent boutiques where it feels as if you're
shopping in someone's home. We found ourselves buying
way more items here than in the capital. Some of the
