Anyone who has been to Italy falls in love with the idea of aperitivo bars – basically it means that when you rock up to a bar and order a cocktail, there is also a complimentary spread of nibbles like olives, prosciutto, bread and cheese. It’s such a simple and brilliant idea, and pretty shocking that the concept hasn’t been exported, until now. The team behind London hot spots like Mahiki and The Punchbowl have opened Tini, an Italian style aperitivo bar in Chelsea. The decor is very 1950's Italian glam, with plenty of lush fabrics, Pirelli prints and lacquer tables. The cocktail menu has classics like martinis and bellinis, as well as original drinks like the Berrycello (limoncello with vodka, lemon juice and crushed strawberries) and the Shotini, which is vodka shots with fresh peach, lemon, basil and prosecco. And whatever you do, do not commit the cardinal sin of an aperitivo bar, which is stashing food in your bag for later. Tini, 87-89 Walton Street , London SW3 2HP Phone: 020 7589 8558.
